On top of supporting organizations that promote keeping our environment healthy, Guildford Town Centre has many programs in place to ensure we are doing our part. Guildford is working hard to make sure we are being “green".
- We have replaced our light bulbs with CFL’s which use up to 1/5 the power of an incandescent bulb.
- We have installed special valves in the food court tenants’ wash areas which save enough water each hour to fill a small bathtub.
- Almost 23,000 litres of grease is recycled from our food tenants each year.
- The amount of waste that Guildford diverts from the landfill each year is the equivalent weight of about 400 Volkswagen Beetles (over 500 metric tonnes).
- Our housekeeping team uses eco friendly products.
Retailer Programs
Guildford Town Centre has programs in place for our retailers to recycle everything from plastic containers, plastic wrap, paper and cardboard, cans and bottles, newspaper, light bulbs, wood, electronics, batteries and metal.
Customer Programs
- Plastic bag recycling – there are large bins located outside of Sears and next to the Customer Service Centre where you can bring your plastic bags for recycling.
- Cans and bottles are collected in the food court and in some areas of the shopping centre. We are working towards increasing the number of collection points around the shopping centre.
